A Guy’s Review: Crazy, Stupid, Love

Name: Crazy, Stupid, Love (Film)

Starring: Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone, Marisa Tomei, Kevin Bacon and Analeigh Tipton

What’s it about: Cal find out his wife is cheating on him. He leaves her and tries to get back into the dating scene. He struggles until he meets Pick-up Artist Jacob, who takes him under his wing. Cal excels at pulling and finds his confidence again. Later on, Cal teaches Jacob about being in love with one women. Typical Hollywood style of film where both main characters learn about themselves and help develop another in a feel good happy ending.

Positives:

  • The tips you learn for picking up women that can be easily applied to you own life
  • Hot ass women throughout!
  • A lot of very funny scenes
  • Emma Stone is smoking hot!
  • However, Analeigh Tipton is my new favourite (she plays Cal’s kids babysiteer)

Downsides:

  • Very predictable storyline
  • Cheesy in places – the usual messages from Hollywood!
  • I didn’t like the happy ending for Cal. Going the other way would have shown others how it is possible to change their lives after breaking up with a long-term partner.
  • The twist near the end for Cal is pretty much unbelieveable.
  • Picking up women is not a bad thing!!

Best Bit: When Jacob (Gosling) is teaching Cal (Carell) how to pickup women (most of the movie!)

Rating: 7/10 I’ve never particularly liked Gosling in any films before but he really blew me away in this! He was really funny, cool and you could have mistaken him for a real life pick up artist. Carell is his usual comical self and a great addition to the film. A predictable plot but it also had a lot of laugh out loud moments. Overall, this was a really enjoyable film. Yes, your girlfriend will drag you to see this but trust me, you’ll be glad she did! Enjoy.

3 Recommended iPhone Apps

Let’s face it, iPhone’s rock but can be also massive time wasters if you don’t pay attention. I’ve spent my fair share of time and money on my phone. Some apps I bought were awesome finds and buys, others … let’s just say they caused a few four letter words to emit from my mouth.

So I thought I would just do a short post today and let you know some of the good apps I’m currently using:

  • Tesco Groceries – Allows you to add to your grocery shopping list everyday (perfect like me if you are always remembering things to add), you can scan barcodes to add the product to your list, check delivery dates, costs and progress and also offers a list of deals and search a wide range of products. Very handy app – just don’t shop when hungry as your diet may go out the window! QualityBloke Rating: 4/5 Cost: Free
